PDO Threads: The Non-Surgical Lift You Need!
If you're looking for a non-surgical solution for sagging skin and wrinkles, PDO threads may be just the treatment you need. This technique has been popular in Asia for some time, but it's only recently started to gain popularity in the West. PDO threads, when used in conjunction with other aesthetic treatments like Botox, dermal fillers, and radiofrequency skin tightening, offer a lifting and rejuvenating effect that is hard to match. In fact, PDO threads are the most effective non-surgical option for repositioning sagging tissue.
So, what exactly are PDO threads?
They are made from PDO, a material that has been used in surgical sutures for decades and has been shown to be very safe. At Woodford, we use only PDO threads because of concerns about potential complications and lack of long-term safety data associated with other thread lift materials. We also do not use coned sutures. Our preferred brand is NFinders PDO threads, which is the market leader in South Korea, where the technique originated. Their high-quality manufacturing processes and proven track record in dependable, safe products ensures that we are providing you with the very best thread lift.
Which areas can PDO threads treat?
PDO threads can be used to treat a variety of areas, including the under-eye area to improve sagging and wrinkling, and the neck where they can be placed just under the skin to tighten and lift. We also use PDO Cog threads and micro punched recessed threads to lift sagging tissue in areas such as the cheeks, nasolabial lines, marionette lines, and jowls.
How do PDO threads work?
The finer monofilament PDO threads work by a process of collagenesis to increase collagen and fibrous material to strengthen and tighten the tissue. When it comes to results, monofilament PDO threads have no immediate impact and produce their effect by stimulating new collagen production. The onset is gradual and sustained and it can take several months to see the full results. Lifting threads, on the other hand, give an instant result that is visible in the mirror and then with further collagenesis over the following 5 to 6 months, gradual improvement is achieved.
Cog or recessed threads otherwise known as contouring or lifting threads do have a pleasing immediate effect which gradually improves even more over the following months as the collagen and fibrous material forms around the threads.
What happens to the PDO thread?
After about 6 months the PDO material starts to dissolve away and will eventually disappear completely. The effect will last several months beyond this as the collagen and fibrous material will persist.
Will people know I have had a PDO thread treatment?
One of the best things about PDO threads is that they do not significantly alter the face shape but instead lift and reposition. Your friends and family may think you look well and 'refreshed,' but no one will be able to tell that you have had something done. At Woodford, our skilled practitioners have undergone extensive training both here and in Asia and keep their skills up to date with the latest techniques. We offer PDO thread treatments as a relatively no downtime procedure under local anaesthetic.
Can the PDO thread treatment be repeated?
Because the PDO thread dissolves away completely it is safe to repeat the procedure in the future. In fact, it has been shown that best results are seen when the treatments overlap to ensure that the effect is maintained. Your practitioner will discuss this fully with you.
